Health anxiety to COVID-19 virus infection and its relationship to quality of life in a sample of health care workers in Egypt: a cross-sectional study

Aim of the study Healthcare workers (HCWs) are more prone to extraordinary fears COVID -19 virus infection. This aimed explore frequency and predictors health anxiety COVID-19 infection among HCWs identify its relationship their quality life (QOL). Subject or material methods A cross-sectional was conducted a sample in hospitals Sharkia Province, Egypt from June 30 July 16, 2020. total 218 were interviewed using short inventory (SHAI), Symptom Check List-90-Revised (SCL-90-R), The World Health Organization Quality Life – BREF (WHOQOL-BREF). Results 28%. Symptoms depression, hostility, phobia somatization, history chronic medical illnesses showed greater odds (OR: 6.7, 9.1, 7.3, 7.7, 12.6, respectively). Being physicians increased number sleeping hours less likely associated with 0.1 0.5, inversely correlated all domains QOL HCWs. Discussion findings consistent other previously similar studies. Conclusions Covid-19 is common HCWs, it negatively affects QOL.
